Overkill are the American thrash metal band that formed in 1980 from New Jersey, USA.
Despite changing line-up many times the duo Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth (vocals) and D.D.Verni (bass) have remained since day one.
They, along with Anthrax (who were led by Dan Spitz (guitar), an early member of Overkill) are viewed as pioneering acts in the thrash metal scene that hit the East Coast.
They have released over 15 studio albums, gaining particular commercial success popularising Thrash in the late 80s.
Their popularity is not just down to Ellsworth, Verni and various other members, as most of their album covers have heavily featured the bands other constant musical influence - their skeletal bat mascot called Chaly.
