Rammstein were formed from the depths of the factory weary assembly from East Germany. Their name comes from a place in Germany where 80 people were hurt in tragic circumstances during and American Air Force show. The literal meaning of their name is a stone made battering ram. Mutter and Reise Reise followed and their fan base grew even further on a global scale.
They have been singled out as Neue Deutsche Harte in terms of style but often transcend styles from heavy metal, hard rock, punk, electronica and groove metal. The band is made up of Lindemann, Richard Krupse, Paul Landers, Ollie Riedel, Christoph Schneider and Christian Lorenz.
